General description of the collection: The Ira C. Eaker papers include general officer's papers; most of this collection consists of his speeches (1947-1972) and his syndicated news articles (1964-1972). Some items contain reminiscences of his own service and of military men he had known. Most speeches and articles comments on some facet of current events and stress such themes as Americanism; a capsule summary of his life and career; transcripts of interviews he granted to Goldberg and Hildreth in 1962 and Arthur M. Armor in 1966 concerning his career, mainly during 1920s, 1930s, and during WWI.
