Contains information pertaining to the following war and time periods: 1865-1897; 1899-1917; World War I (WWI). Contains information pertaining to the following military units and organizations: 64th United States (U.S.) Infantry Regiment, 2nd and 3rd Aero Squadrons, Department of Air Office, Philippine Department; 34th Pursuit Squadron; 17th Attack Group, VIII Bomber Command; 8th Air Force; Mediterranean Allied Air Forces; Army Air Forces; Office of the Assistant Secretary of War, Office of the Chief of Air Service. General description of the collection: The Ira C. Eaker papers include general officer's papers; most of this collection consists of his speeches (1947-1972) and his syndicated news articles (1964-1972). Some items contain reminiscences of his own service and of military men he had known. Most speeches and articles comments on some facet of current events and stress such themes as Americanism; a capsule summary of his life and career; transcripts of interviews he granted to Goldberg and Hildreth in 1962 and Arthur M. Armor in 1966 concerning his career, mainly during 1920s, 1930s, and during WWI.
